The LCPS has an Environmental Club, under the guidance of teacher Rebekkah Batman, that is doing great things for the planet.
The environmental club began a compost program about a month ago and each room in the school has a compost bin that is emptied into a big school wide bin (they are hoping to use the compost next year for planting).
They also did a stainless steel water bottle fundraiser to raise money for Free The Children and Haven House
They are working to try and reduce the amount of water wasted through fountains, and reduce waste produced from disposable drinks.
In the works are plans for "Energy Police" who will be on the lookout throughout the school for wasted energy - possibly issuing tickets as gentle reminders for energy wasting classrooms.
