Happy "Green" Valentine's Day

My husband is probably the most green on Valentine's Day, of anyone on the planet.

Does he buy organic chocolates?

No.

Does he buy organic flowers?

No.

Does he buy cards made of recycled paper?

No.

Does he make me a romantic dinner out of locally-available and organic ingredients?

Hahaha! No.

See how green he is? His Valentine gifts have absolutely no impact on our planet. Nothing, nada, zero, zilch.

So what does he get me for Valentine's Day?

Please see above paragraph.

So, for all you husbands out there that are like mine, you can use the green excuse this year. After all, isn't doing your part to save the planet enough gift for anyone?

And if it isn't? Here are my suggestions of Do's and Don'ts for this Valentine's Day (hubby, this may keep you out of the doghouse this year!).

DO: buy her a nice bottle of organic wine

DON'T: buy a case of beer and drink it with your buddies in front of the hockey game

DO: clean the house as a special surprise

DON'T: buy a case of beer, drink it with buddies, leave the clean-up for her

DO: use your talents to create a wonderful handmade gift, like the wooden desk my hubby made for me one year (ya, he's not all bad, I just like to tease him)

DON'T: show off your talents, like your ability to belch the alphabet, after drinking said case of beer

DO: make a card and write a personal poem or loving thoughts inside

DON'T: say that you couldn't get a card because the local store had NO CARDS LEFT (hmmm, I may have heard that one somewhere)

And if all else fails,

DO: turn out the lights early, saving on electricity of course, and use your creativity from there

DON'T: attempt this after drinking aforementioned case of beer with said buddies, then fall asleep/pass out immediately

Remember, it's the thought that counts, not all the useless trinkets and gadgets that she will have to move and dust forever, until they finally end up in a landfill somewhere.

And by the way, my hubby isn't really all that bad, but it's fun to bug him - and he really did build me a desk....so really, that should keep him in the good books for at least another year or two. Incidentally, he has never bought a case of beer and drank it in front of the TV with his buddies, and he doesn't watch hockey games, so really, I can't complain TOO much- not about that at least.
